How to save your life in a fire!← Back

Fire is one of the most destructive forces in the world, causing untold damage and taking hundreds of lives every year.
It is indiscriminate in its work, and destroys everything in its path no matter what it might be worth.
So imagine what might happen if a fire broke out in your home. The cost of replacing everything that's damaged could run into thousands of pounds, which may or may not be covered by insurance, but the greater heartbreak is caused when you lose stuff that just can't be replaced. Photographs, mementoes, trinkets collected over a lifetime, the bits and bobs that make up the story of your lives and remind you of loved ones who may not even be with you anymore. Of course, that's if you even make it out of the burning building yourself alive!
We all know the importance of fitting a fire alarm, and that can buy us precious time in getting out of the house in the event that flames do break out. But an alarm cannot actually stop a fire spreading and destroying your life.
That's why Derbyshire Fire & Rescue have launched a new campaign to have sprinklers fitted in all new build homes, and even fitted retrospectively in existing homes. A sprinkler will actually service to extinguish the flames and put out a fire well before its caused too much damage, and certainly well before any humans are put in danger.
Did you know that no-one has ever died from a fire in a home that has been fitted with a sprinkler system?
For more information about the campaign, visit the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Website.
If you think you want to have sprinklers fitted in your new or existing home, local architectural consultant, Chris, will be more than happy to have a chat and advise you of your options.
