Architectural Building Design Services were instructed on this project to carry out the initial design, obtain planning permission and provide technical drawings for a new workshop and office facility for a Somerset based company “Tor Trucks” who specialize in the repair and painting of articulated vehicles.

The new building had a gross floor area of 2450sq m (26,370 sq ft) which included 450sq m of office space on two levels.

The steel framed building consisted of pre-cast concrete flooring units supported on a structural steel frame with a reinforced in–situ concrete ground floor.

The roof was finished in colour coat insulated profile steel roof cladding. The walls to the workshop area in profile steel wall cladding and the office wall area in colour coat insulated composite horizontal wall cladding.

The double glazed windows to the offices were powder coated aluminum and insulated sectional overhead vehicle doors were fitted to the workshop.

The workshop had to accommodate specialist items of equipment to suit the Client’s operational needs with vehicle pits, spray booths, vehicle ovens, ventilation flues , workshop / repair areas , jigs etc .

The uniquely shaped office block consisted of worker’s facilities (toilets, showers, canteen etc) at ground floor level together with an impressive entrance lobby and feature staircase.  The first floor office space consisted of individual and open plan offices , boardroom and staff facilities.
